Six Players Score Double Digits as Men's Basketball Hits Century Mark

Six Sound players scored double-digits in Monday night's 102-39 win over The King's College.

The scoring was led by Kyree Sawyer who had an impressive linescore of 28 points (10-16, 62.5%), six rebounds, six assists, and eight steals. Starters Corey Jacques and Rony Lambre each contributed 12 points of their own; Jacques added five steals and four assits, while Lambre added six steals and two assists. Other Sound players who scored double-digits include Nigel Braithwaite Jr. (11), Quincy Simmons (11), and Aaron Kinard (10). 

Five Towns was off to a hot start as the team opened the game with a 14-0 scoring run before a free-throw from King's Benjamin Borchelt broke the scoring for the Lions. The Sound had a 20-6 scoring run to end the first half, capped off with a 3-pointer from Quincy Simmons at the buzzer to lead 52-15 at halftime. The Sound would hold the lead for the remainder of the game. The Lions scoring was led by Benjamin Borchelt with 17 points.

Tight defense from Five Towns put the pressure on King's College and held the visitors to just 23.1% shooting and converted 39 King's turnovers into 49 points. The home team totaled 28 steals, 21 assists, and controlled the boards to gather 76 rebounds.

The Five Towns men will play another home game on Thursday against Monroe College JV at 8:00 PM.
