Thomas O'Keefe Named Esports Head Coach

Dix Hills, NY - Five Towns College Athletics has announced Thomas O'Keefe as the head coach for the program's Esports team.

“Thomas has a wide variety of experience and a detailed approach to competitive gaming,” said Athletic Director Matt Guercio. “I know he’ll be an outstanding role model for our student-athletes. I look forward to watching him take this sport to new heights under his leadership.”

O’Keefe is currently the Manager of Brand Partnerships and Esports at Collegiate Sports Management Group. In his current role, he works with conferences and institutions, providing the organizations with growth strategies and revenue generating opportunities. CSMG currently works with the ECC, ECAC, & NJCAAE Esports programs in regards to: event management, sponsorship, licensing, media, ticketing, and acquisitions. Thomas has spoke at the Collegiate Esports Expo for the past two years and guest lectured at New York University, St. John's University, and Brooklyn College pertaining to the collegiate Esports ecosystem.

Alongside the entire Five Towns community, I look forward to utilizing my experiences in the Esports space, as well as my network, to make sure every student that joins our program is developing the skills needed to succeed inside and outside of the venue." stated O'Keefe. "There is a unique correlation between Esports and what the students are learning inside the classroom, as it relates to production, graphic design, broadcasting, business, and much more. I am extremely grateful to FTC for this opportunity and I am eager to grow this program with students already enrolled at Five Towns College and via new recruitment initiatives."

O'Keefe earned his Bachelor of Science from St. Joseph's College, where he was a two-year varsity tennis captain. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he earned his Master's in Sports Management from St. John's University, where he was a Graduate Assistant in Research for the College of Professional Studies.
