Dix Hills, N.Y. – Five Towns College men's soccer head coach Jason Fiscina has announced the inaugural 2019 season schedule. The Sound will be competing in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) as a member of the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC).
The schedule includes 13 total contests; eight home contests will be played on the Five Towns College campus. All home games will feature live stats and video stream. The full 2019 schedule can be viewed here.
The Sound will open up the season with two exhibition games, first against St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Tuesday, August 20 and against Monroe College (Bronx) with a date to be announced.
"We are honored and humbled to release our inaugural schedule as a member of the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC)," stated head coach Jason Fiscina. "Our non-conference opponents will help us prepare and build character as we cover the course of the season."
The first conference match and home opener will take place at Five Towns College on Saturday, September 7 against SUNY ESF, the reigning HVIAC tournament champions. The Mighty Oaks went 4-2 in HVIAC conference play (9-7 overall) for the 2018 season before defeating King's College 2-1 and New Rochelle 2-1 to take home the championship, the team's second championship in three years.
The Sound will play two more home matches the first week of the season against Webb Institute on September 11 and against Pratt Institute on September 14. The team then travels for three away games, first making a stop in Middletown, Pennsylvania to face Williamson Trade School (September 18) before traveling up to Albany to take on Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in an HVIAC matchup on September 22. The last game of the road stretch will be another HVIAC matchup at King's College on September 25.
Five Towns returns to home play on September 29 for a conference game against Culinary Institute and a non-conference game against Villa Maria College on October 5.
The Sound will visit New Hampshire Technical Institute (October 8), and will play a home contest against Bryant & Stratton College on October 12 before visiting Vaughn College on October 17 for a conference game.
To finish out the inaugural season, Five Towns will host a match against Word of Life Bible Institute on October 21 and the final conference matchup of the season against Berkeley College on October 23. Berkeley College went undefeated (6-0, 12-6-1 overall) in HVIAC conference play last season before dropping the first game of championship play 2-1 in overtime against New Rochelle.
The 2019 HVIAC Conference Championship will take place the weekend of October 26-27 and will be hosted by the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
