The FTC Women's Basketball Team was dominant in their trip up to Albany as they closed out the month of January with a 127-40 victory.
On January 30, 2025 at the Washington Ave Armory in Albany the Five Towns College women’s basketball team routed Bryant & Stratton - Albany by a staggering score of 127-40. The Sound showcased near-flawless offensive execution and efficiency.
The Sound dazzled from the opening tip, outscoring their opponents in every quarter—36 in the first, 40 in the second, 26 in the third, and 25 in the final period—to build an insurmountable lead. Five Towns recorded a near-perfect shooting percentage while sinking 47 shots from the field and 16 of those from three-point range. Complementing that, the team hit 17 of 21 free throws (81%), contributing to their explosive offensive output.
Standout performances came from several players who, despite limited minutes, made every possession count:
- Danayjha Moore finished with 21 points, with 5 shots falling from three-point range.
- Layla Ford poured in 27 points, knocking down 11 of her shots and contributing 4-of-6 from the free throw line.
- Ihari Oromo added 16 points, while Raine Mears impressed with 25 points, including 5 three-pointers and 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
- Danica Robles contributed a solid 5 points, rounding out the starting unit’s stellar performance.
Even the reserves stepped up, as Des Bishop scored 12 points and Sydney Mountain added 6 points—all while maintaining the team’s perfect shooting efficiency.
These numbers underline an offensive clinic that left Bryant & Stratton - Albany struggling to keep pace.
Coach Jaques praised the team's remarkable precision and efficiency. “Every shot we took counted today. Our focus and execution were spot-on, and it’s a testament to the hard work our players have put in,” He went on to say, “Our performance as a unit was nothing short of perfect, and we’re excited to build on this momentum.”
Looking Ahead, this emphatic win not only boosts the Sound’s confidence but also serves as a reminder of the high-caliber talent within the Five Towns College women’s basketball program. With such an outstanding display of precision and scoring efficiency, the team is poised to continue their dominant play as the season progresses.
