Dix Hills, NY - Five Towns College women's volleyball Freshman middle blocker Lanasia Drain and Freshman right side hitter Anna Matytsina, and men's soccer Freshman midfielder William Rivera earned Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) weekly honors. Drain was named women's volleyball Player of the Week, Matytsina was named women's volleyball Rookie of the Week, and Rivera was named men's soccer Rookie of the Week
Angelastro totaled 22 digs, 14 service aces, six assists, and four kills in the 1-1 week for Five Towns. She posted 12 service aces, including five consecutive in the second set, and nine digs in the Sound's first win in program history in a three-set victory over HVIAC opponent Culinary Institute. The junior added 13 digs against Fisher and currently leads the HVIAC in aces and digs per set.
Drain, who was last week's HVIAC Rookie of the Week, totaled 42 kills, six service aces, and six blocks over the 1-2 week for the Sound. She had a game-high and career best 25 kills in the five-set victory over USCAA #10 NHTI. Matytsina totaled 24 kills and 45 digs on the week. She had her first career double-double with 17 kills and 21 digs to help lead the Sound to victory over NHTI.
Rivera scored four goals in the 1-1 week for men's soccer. He scored four goals on five shots in the 11-1 victory over HVIAC opponent Culinary Institute. He is the team's second leading scorer with eight goals, just behind Adrian Wong (10).
Also earning recognition for the HVIAC Honor Roll is men's soccer players Mouhamed Diop Dia. Diop Dia had 165 shutout minutes in the net and leads the HVIAC in save-percentage (.912) and goals-against average (0.48)
