Men's Basketball defeated Touro College Thursday evening by a score of 89-76. Four Sound players scored double-digits with Junior Ismail Shabazz posting a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Shabazz narrowly missed a triple-double as he also had eight assists in the game. Leading the team in scoring was Sophomore Kyree Sawyer with 28 points. John Francois and Lloyd Middlebrooks also contributed 16 points each.
Five Towns' defense helped secure the win as the team had 18 steals and caused 27 Touro turnovers; the Sound had 37 points off turnovers. In a tight contest, the men had a one point lead over Touro College at half time. Entering the second half, the Sound went on a 17-5 scoring run to lead 57-44. The largest lead of the game came for the Sound with 4:15 remaining in the game after they went on an 18-6 scoring run to go up by 18 points. Of Sawyer's 28 points, he scored 19 points in the second half.
The men return to action this weekend when they take on Culinary Institute in a USCAA matchup at home on Sunday, November 11th at 12 PM.
