In a USCAA matchup, Five Towns College defeated Vaughn Institute 94-62 Wednesday night. The game was fast-paced from the start, as both teams came out ready to play. The game stayed within three points through the first five minutes until Five Towns went on an 11-2 run to lead 16-7 with 11:47 remaining in the first half. From there, the Sound never lost the lead through the remainder of the game. Three Five Towns players scored double-doubles.
Leading the scoring for the Sound was Sophomore Kyree Sawyer with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Sawyer shot 52% from the field and is now ranked 3rd in the USCAA in points per game with 23.2. Obasi Jackson scored a career-high 23 points to go along with a game-high 17 rebounds. John Francois came off the bench for a double-double of his own with 13 points and 14 rebounds. As a team, the Sound shot 43.6% from the field, while the Warriors shot just 27.7%.
The men will travel to the College of New Rochelle on Tuesday, December 11th before returning home to play on Thursday, December 13th at 7:00 PM against ASA College.
