Five Towns College Women's Basketball defeated The King's College in by a score of 42-30 in a USCAA matchup Monday evening. The win moves the Sound to 5-4 overall, 2-2 in the USCAA.
In a low scoring game for both teams, 40% shooting in the first half helped the Sound lead King's College 28-13 going into halftime. Chloe Walton led the Sound in scoring with 16 points, 10 of them coming in the first half. Two other Five Towns players scored double digits with Jada Roberts Duncan adding 12 points and Denisha Allen had her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Ashante Joseph contributed seven assists and eight rebounds to go along with four points of her own. As a team, the Sound has 15 assists and 11 steals to aid in the victory. 34 of the Sound's points came from inside the paint.
King's College outscored Five Towns in the second half and closed the lead to seven points with 6:34 remaining, but an 8-1 Sound scoring run helped to secure the win. King's scoring was led by Catie Shoemaker who had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The women have another home game this week when they face the New Rochelle Blue Angels on Thursday at 6:00 PM.
