Layla Ford Named North American Conference for Intercollegiate Athletics (NACIA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Dix Hills, NY – January 26, 2026 – Five Towns College proudly announces that Layla Ford has been named the North American Conference for Intercollegiate Athletics (NACIA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of January 19–January 25, 2026.
Ford earns the conference honor following a dominant week in which she anchored the Sound on both ends of the floor, highlighted by a historic rebounding performance in conference play.
During the week, Ford averaged a double-double, including a 20-rebound performance in a key conference victory. In that game, she pulled down 13 offensive rebounds, creating numerous second-chance opportunities that shifted momentum and fueled Five Towns' second-half comeback. She also added 11 points, showcasing her ability to impact the game beyond the stat sheet.
"Layla's motor is relentless," said the Five Towns head coach. "What she does doesn't always show up in highlights, but it wins games. Twenty rebounds — especially 13 offensive — is a testament to her toughness, positioning, and determination. This recognition is well deserved."
Ford's consistency on the glass, defensive intensity, and leadership were instrumental in Five Towns' success during the week, as the Sound continued to build momentum in conference play.
The Player of the Week honor marks a significant achievement for both Ford and the women's basketball program, reflecting the team's continued growth and competitive presence within NACIA.
Five Towns College congratulates Layla Ford on this outstanding accomplishment and looks forward to her continued success throughout the season.
