In a competitive showdown at FTC Arena, Fisher (MA) edged out Five Towns College 92-81. Despite the loss, a major milestone was celebrated as senior guard Eian Williams scored his 1,000th career point, finishing with 33 points on an efficient 13-for-20 shooting and a flawless 7-for-7 from the free throw line.
In a hard-fought battle, Fisher built momentum early, outscoring the Sound in both halves—putting up 45 points in the first half and 47 in the second. The Owls’ balanced attack, highlighted by KeAndre Penceal’s 21 points and James Moore’s 18, helped them maintain a lead that Fisher never relinquished. The Fisher squad shot 45.1% from the field (32-of-71) and 37.5% from beyond the arc (12-of-32), while converting 76.2% of their free throws (16-of-21).
On the home side, Five Towns managed 81 points on 44.9% shooting (31-of-69) and an impressive 43.8% from three-point range (7-of-16), while hitting 75.0% of free throw attempts (12-of-16). However, the Sound struggled on the boards, pulling down only 34 rebounds compared to Fisher’s 50, and were limited by slightly fewer assists and a nearly identical turnover count (15 vs. 16).
However this night was reserved for Eian Williams’ milestone moment as the Five Towns senior, who played 40 minutes, and erupted for 33 points, propelled himself past the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career, in the fourth quarter. Williams’ performance has been a beacon of consistency for the Sound this season, and throughtout his time here. In addition to his scoring, he also added 4 assists, 3 steals, contributing on both ends of the court. “Reaching 1,000 points is a dream come true,” Williams said. “I’m proud I hit this milestone with my teammates by my side, even though we came up short tonight.”
Key Contributions from Five Towns
- Patrick Harrington led the team with 20 points in 29 minutes, showing leadership on offense despite the loss.
- Tayron Bangs added 5 points and dished out 6 assists in 26 minutes, though turnovers proved costly.
- Ahmad McKnight contributed 6 points and 6 rebounds over 36 minutes.
- Jon Espinal provided a spark with 18 points in 28 minutes.
- Reserves, including Hunter Waldman (3 points in 6 minutes), Brady Manning (6 points in 17 minutes), and Malik Moore (6 points in 18 minutes), offered supporting scoring but couldn’t bridge the gap.
“Tonight was a tough loss, but we have a lot to be proud of, especially with Eian hitting his 1,000-point milestone,” said Coach Drzal. “We battled hard, but Fisher’s rebounding and bench production made the difference. We’re going to review the film, tighten up on our transition defense, and work on being more aggressive on the boards.”
Despite the setback, the Sound remains optimistic about the remainder of the season. With the milestone hit and key pieces showing flashes of brilliance, Five Towns College is determined to regroup and return stronger in their next contest against Bryant and Stratton - Rochester, on the road, this coming Saturday.
