Dix Hills, NY - The USCAA has announced the Week 1 Coaches Poll Rankings with Five Towns men's soccer coming in at #14 with 117 votes. Five Towns is also ranked in a tie for 9th in the USCAA Week 1 Power Rankings as of September 23rd.
The team is currently 3-2-1 for the season, with a total of 37 goals scored and four goals allowed. Three of the goals allowed on the season have come from penalty kicks. As a team, Five Towns is currently #2 in the USCAA with goals scored, and goalkeeper Mouhamed Diop Dia is 2nd in both save percentage (.909) and goals-against average (0.56).
King's College was ranked #1 in the coaches poll. Five Towns held King's to just one goal off a penalty kick in the 1-0 loss this past Wednesday night. SUNY ESF, the reigning HVIAC champion, was tied for #5 in the coaches poll, who the Sound faced for the season opener that resulted in a scoreless draw.
The Five Towns Sound men's soccer team has proven to be a competitive opponent early on through the inaugural season in a tough conference, the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Five Towns is one of five HVIAC teams that were ranked within the top 14 teams for the USCAA Division II Men's Soccer Week 1 Coaches Poll.
