Jose Garcia Named NACIA Goalie of the Week After Trio of Clean Sheets
DIX HILLS, NY — The North American Conference for Intercollegiate Athletics (NACIA) has named Jose Garcia of Five Towns College Sound Men's Soccer the Goalie of the Week for the week of September 15 – September 21, 2025, after a dominant stretch of performances that saw the sophomore goalkeeper post three consecutive shutouts.
Garcia was a brick wall between the posts, anchoring the Sound's defense and helping secure crucial victories that week. His composed presence, sharp reflexes, and commanding leadership of the back line played a critical role in the team's unbeaten run during the stretch.
In three matches, Garcia faced a combined total of 17 shots on target, making key saves in each contest and keeping the opposition off the scoreboard entirely. His efforts not only contributed to the team's momentum in NACIA play but also established him as one of the top goalkeepers in the conference.
Head Coach Jason Fiscina praised Garcia's performance:
"Jose has been exceptional for us — not just this week, but all season. His consistency, focus, and work ethic set the tone for our defense. These shutouts are a testament to his dedication and the trust he's built with his teammates."
Garcia now leads the conference in clean sheets and continues to be a vital part of the Sound's strong start to the season.
