Bio
Mike Glancy returns to Five Towns College for his second season with the Sound as Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach. In his inaugural year Glancy helped lead the Sound to a 3rd HVIAC Conference Championship and a 3rd USCAA National Tournament appearance.
Prior to Five Towns Glancy served as the interim Head Men's soccer coach at SUNY Maritime in the Fall of 2020, and led the team through the COVID pause and was eventually named the Head coach ahead of the 2021 campaign. As Head Coach Glancy had a record of 9-20-3
Before being named Head Coach at Maritime, Glancy served as an assistant coach for the program for 3 years. In his first two seasons as an assistant coach at Maritime, Glancy helped the Privateers reach the ECAC Tournament and the Skyline Conference Tournament in both years.. The team finished the 2018 season with 14 wins and the 2017 campaign with 11 wins including five victories against conference opponents. Following the season, the team had three First Team All-Conference selections, while Parker Gallt ’19 also earned All-Region Honors from both the United Soccer Coaches and the ECAC. In the 2017 season Maritime picked up 11 total wins with a 5-3-1 record in conference play and then in the 2018 season, Glancy helped Maritime finish 7-2-1 in Skyline Conference action and earn the #2 seed for playoffs. The following year the Privateers improved upon their playoff performance and ran the table as the #6 seed behind two overtime victories and a shoot-out win in the semifinals. Earning the program a Conference Championship and an NCAA D3 tournament appearance.
Glancy has nearly 20 years of soccer coaching experience, including two seasons as the head coach of Transit Tech High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. He also has been a coach and Board Member of the Deer Park Soccer Club in Suffolk County, as well as has worked with teams within Massapequa Soccer Club and as a trainer with UST Academy on Long Island.
In addition to his soccer experience, Glancy currently serves as a Physical Education and Health teacher with the New York City Department of Education for the past 21 years. He has held positions at Susan B. Anthony Intermediate School, as well as Intermediate School 231 and Collaborative Arts Middle School 355. Throughout his professional career, he has also held a role in the Boys and Girls Club of Oyster Bay-East Norwich, and served 15 years as an Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter in Deer Park on Long Island.
The Long Island-native attended East Stroudsburg University in northeastern Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in Physical Education. He later went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from nearby Adelphi University in the spring of 2008. Coach Glancy resides in Deer Park, NY with his wife Jennifer and sons Alexander and Nicholas.
