Five Towns College Women Dominate Bryant & Stratton College - Syracuse in 97-58 Conference Victory
Dix Hills, NY – January 31, 2026 – The Five Towns College women's basketball team delivered one of its most explosive offensive performances of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Bryant & Stratton College – Syracuse 97-58 in conference play to move to 8-8 overall and 5-5 in league action.
Five Towns came out firing, scoring 28 points in the first quarter and building a commanding 53-26 halftime lead. The Sound shot 57.9% in the opening period and finished the game at 40.7% from the field while forcing 22 turnovers.
The standout performance of the afternoon belonged to Raine Mears, who poured in a game-high 34 points. Mears shot 10-of-24 from the field and an impressive 7-of-20 from three-point range, while also converting 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. She added 6 rebounds and 4 steals in a dynamic all-around effort.
"Raine was locked in," said the Five Towns head coach. "She stretched the floor, attacked when she needed to, and competed defensively. That's the kind of leadership performance that energizes everyone."
Inside, Layla Ford added 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Geormaya Davis continued her efficient play with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Danica Robles orchestrated the offense with 11 points and 7 assists, helping the Sound tally 21 assists as a team.
Five Towns dominated the glass 66-43, including 25 offensive rebounds that led to multiple second-chance opportunities. The Sound also knocked down 10 three-pointers and shot 70.8% from the free-throw line to cap off a balanced and aggressive offensive showing.
Bryant & Stratton – Syracuse was led by Lanasia Drain and Freey Pleasants with 17 points each, but the visitors shot just 26.8% from the field as Five Towns controlled the tempo from start to finish.
With the decisive win, the Sound continue to build momentum heading into the final stretch of conference play.
