Dix Hills, NY - The Five Towns College women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to the Word of Life/Davis Huskies Friday night 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-18). The team moves to 1-5 on the season, 1-0 in the HVIAC.
While the Huskies had a .029 hitting percentage on the night, the team had 11 service aces to help defeat the Sound. Word of Life/Davis had 19 kills in the game, just one more than Five Towns' 18. Krystal Schwab led the attack for the Huskies with six kills.
Lanasia Drain, last week's HVIAC Rookie of the Week, had a game-high 10 kills, to go along with three service aces and two solo blocks. Defensive specialist Emily Angelastro, last week's HVIAC Player of the Week, totaled 15 digs for the match and four kills. Chloe Walton and Anna Matytsina contributed two kills each. Setter Jada Roberts-Duncan tallied 11 assists in the effort.
The women return to action for the Five Towns College Tri-Match on Sunday, September 29th. The Sound will play New Hampshire Technical Institute at 11:00 AM and SUNY Old Westbury at 3:00 PM (Game time can potentially be moved up; will follow shortly after the conclusion of the NHTI vs. SUNY Old Westbury match.)
