Dix Hills, NY - The Five Towns College men's soccer team continues its impressive start and improves to 3-0-1 on the season and sits among the top of the USCAA standings. The Sound defeated Williamson College of the Trades 6-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore Adrian Santos led the team in scoring with three goals. He opened up the scoring in the 4th minute of play, finishing a through ball from William Rivera. Santos has scored the first goal in the last three games for the Sound, all of which came within the first four minutes. Santos scored another quick goal in the 6th minute off a give-and-go from Luis Mendez to put Five Towns up 2-0.
Santos is a transfer from the Borough of Manhattan Community College, where he was the 2018 CUNYAC Rookie of the Year and the 2019 CUNYAC Preseason Player of the Year before joining the Sound.
Sophomore Captain Sebastian Montenegro scored his first goal of the season off a corner kick from Robinson Munoz. Adrian Wong headed the corner kick from Munoz which Montenegro volleyed into the back of the net, to give the Sound a 3-0 lead at the half.
Rivera finished the day with two assists, also aiding Santos in his third goal of the game in the 63rd minute. Bassm Ismail added an unassisted goal in the 78th minute after beating the goalie one vs. one. Mendez capped off the scoring in the 79th minute with a shot from outside the box, finishing upper 90.
The Sound defense held Williamson to just three shots on goal, all of which Mouhamed Diop Dia saved to complete the shutout. Diop Dia now has a .938 save percentage, ranked 3rd in the HVIAC.
Mendez, Munoz, and Wong are atop the HVIAC leaderboard in points with 18, 16, and 15 respectively.
The men's soccer team travels to Albany this weekend to take on HVIAC opponent Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (1-3).
